Louisiana Health Care review Announces Awards of Excellence

The administration and staff of R&R Home Care, Inc. in New Orleans received two Awards of Excellence this month for their efforts over the past year in improvement in confusion and dyspnea among their patients. The awards were presented by Jane Artz, R.N., a quality improvement specialist with Louisiana Health Care Review (LHCR). LHCR is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Louisiana and is under contract with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to monitor and support improvements in health outcomes for home health agencies and other health care providers in the state. R&R's achievements in these two areas represent 18% of the total Awards for Excellence for the entire state of Louisiana.

Under a mandate from CMS, home health agencies in Louisiana are charged with improving their outcomes to either meet or exceed the national average in 44 different areas. R&R Home Care was previously recognized in the February/ March issue of the LCHR provider newsletter, Quality Times, for their approach to improving patient outcomes through the use of "best practices".
